| Overshadowing the
old medieval quarter of BRUGGE, is the striking Het Gravensteen known
as the Castle of the Counts. Many historic buildings are found on Graslei, a quaint
little street that borders the river Leie. The imposing St Baafskathedrall
represents every phase of the gothic style. Housed here is the Jan van Eyck painting
Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. Opposite the cathedral is the 14th century
Belfort (belfry) from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
The largest collection of fine art, is housed at the Museum voor Schone Kunsten,
located south-east of the center including works by Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and
Jacob Jordaens. | | | | |
