| BRISTOL is
the biggest and most dynamic city in the south-west of part of England. The River
Avon weaves its way through the city center and this forms part of a system of
waterways that made Bristol a great inland port. The covered market in the city
center is part of which occupies the Corn Exchange was built in 1743. St.
John's Gate has colorful statues of Bristol's mythical founders, King Brennus
and King Benilus. Other tourist attractions include the SS Great Britain,
the first large iron ship to be driven by a screw propeller and powered by steam,
Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Cathedral, an Augustinian
monastery and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre. |
