| BILBAO is the
largest commerical port in Basque country and Spain's sixth largest city. The
city's medieval quarter, the Casco Viejo, the Museo Arqueológico Etnográfico
e Histórico Vasco displays art and folk artifacts. In the newer part
of town, the Museo de Bellas Artes is possibly Spain's best art museum,
but the draw to Bilbao is forever the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao which houses
a spectacular collection of modern and contemporary art. Thousands of visitors
flock to the city just to see the museum. The building itself has as much artistic
merit as the great masterpieces that are exhibited within. |
